String To Road Control

To access this screen:

  • Select Applications >> Open Pit >> Road Layout Tools >> String to Road, then make sure you have a string selected.

Use this screen to define how the road design string is used as a basis for road creation.

Because a road is created from a single-width string, these settings define how the resulting road is positioned relative to the selected string.

Activity Steps:

  1. Display the String To Road Control screen.

  2. In Type, enter the code that represents how the design string is treated.

    • C – Use the design string as a centre line.

    • L – Use the design string as the left edge of the road.

    • R – Use the design string as the right edge of the road.

    • I – Use the design string as the inside edge of the road.

    • LR – Run from the left to the right of the road.

    • RL – Run from the right to the left of the road.

  3. Click OK.

String to Road Example

The following road was created with the option to keep the original design string selected.

The RL option was specified, and the road widths (specified in the next step) were 10 metres at the start and 10 metres at the end of the road.

The control (design) string is highlighted in yellow, and the grey strings represent the road perimeters.

The next step, after you click OK, is to set the road width values on the Road Width screen.
